The situation

What has happened

Harbourline Constructions has sent revision C of a deck plan for a house in Frankston: a raised deck 7.2 metres by 4.8 metres on treated pine posts and bearers with treated pine joists at 450 millimetre centres and 140 x 19 silvertop ash decking laid with a 4 millimetre gap. The plan does not state the treatment level for the posts or the grade of the joists. The customer wants a firm price by 17 September and delivery on 29 September. The Merchandising Manager has opened quote QT-26-0871 in the Customer Orders and Despatch system and expects a draft before it goes out. Silvertop ash decking is in stock in bay H4 in 3.6 and 4.2 metre packs; the register shows how much is ready.

Your brief. Prepare a complete material take-off from the plan using the quote template, choose stock lengths with the least waste, state your assumptions, confirm stock and certified claim eligibility in the registers, price the job and hand the draft quote to the Merchandising Manager for approval.

Evidence guide

Check the take-off arithmetic, the joist count at 450 centres and the decking board count with the gap allowed. Assumptions must be explicit and reasonable. The certified claim must be applied only to mill product, and the student must be able to explain why the treated pine lines carry no claim. The quote record must show the validity, delivery zone and approval requirement.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
