Fire season preparation starts now

The Bushfire Season Readiness and Emergency Response Plan for 2026 to 2027 is now approved and published in the document library. All fire trailers and slip-on units must be serviced by 25 September and every crew must complete the fire refresher before 1 October. Supervisors, book your crews with the SHE team this week.

Grade audit result for August

The independent grade check on 60 packs of MGP10 and MGP12 framing found 98.1 percent grade accuracy, with two packs downgraded for wane beyond the limit. Graders, please review the wane limits in the grading guide. Well done to the dry mill on the improvement from July.

Contractor induction for Karrawong Harvesting

Karrawong Harvesting starts the Tarpeena East thinning on 21 September. Their crew induction is at the Mount Gambier base on 18 September at 7:30 am. Forest Operations staff who will supervise or share coupes with the contractor are expected to attend the site rules session at 9:00 am.

Kiln 2 out of service

Kiln 2 is out of service until the door seal is replaced. Charges scheduled for kiln 2 this week have been moved to kilns 1 and 5. Stackers, check the revised charge board before building stacks. Do not enter kiln 2 while the seal repair is in progress; the isolation lock is held by the maintenance fitter.

Chain of custody surveillance audit 12 November

The annual surveillance audit for forest management and chain of custody certification is on 12 November at Heyfield. The auditor will visit the log yard, kilns, dry mill and despatch and will sample records from the registers. The internal audit runs through October. Please make sure every pack tag and bay sign is correct and every register entry is complete.
