CAQA Timberline Forest and Wood Products
Timberline grows, harvests, saws, dries and sells softwood and hardwood timber for the Australian building and manufacturing markets. The business manages a radiata pine plantation estate in the Green Triangle, holds harvesting rights in native regrowth forest in Gippsland under a state forest allocation, and runs a sawmill and kiln complex that turns logs into structural framing, appearance boards, fencing, pallet stock and landscaping timbers. A merchandising yard supplies frame and truss plants, builders, fencing contractors and timber merchants. Wood chips and sawdust from the mill are sold to board manufacturers and a biomass heat plant, so very little of each log leaves the site as waste.
The business is organised into six departments across three sites. Forest Operations plans and supervises harvesting, haulage, roading, silviculture and fire readiness from the Mount Gambier base. The Sawmill and Drying department runs a green mill, a dry mill and six kilns at Heyfield on two shifts, Monday to Friday, with a weekend kiln watch. The Saw Shop and Maintenance team keeps every blade, cutter head and machine in tolerance. Timber Merchandising receives graded product at Dandenong South, quotes and picks customer orders and despatches by company truck. Safety, Environment and Certification, and Corporate Services, support every site from Heyfield.
Timberline operates under an integrated safety, environment and quality management system audited each year for forest management and chain of custody certification. Every coupe has a written harvest plan, a pre-start hazard check and a cultural heritage and biodiversity assessment before a machine enters. Every pack of structural timber carries a grade stamp that traces back to a kiln charge, a saw line and a log batch. Incidents, hazards and environmental events are recorded in the Safety and Environment Register within the shift and investigated by a supervisor. Controlled documents carry a document code, an owner and a review date, and staff work only to the current version.
