Purpose. The harvesting supervisor completes this form with the crew at the start of every shift in a coupe to confirm the plan, the boundaries, the weather, the hazards and the controls for the day.

1.When to use this form

Complete this form before any machine or feller starts work in a coupe, every shift, and again if conditions change during the day, for example if the wind rises, a fire ban is declared or a new crew arrives.

2.Confirming the plan

The supervisor must have the current harvest plan and coupe map on hand and must walk through the boundaries, buffers, exclusion zones, habitat trees and heritage sites with the crew. Any difference between the map and what is on the ground must be recorded and referred to the Forest Operations Manager before work starts.

3.Weather and fire

Record the forecast, wind speed and direction, the fire danger rating and whether a total fire ban or a harvesting restriction applies. Machines fitted with fire suppression must be checked and the fire trailer and water supply confirmed.

4.Machine and crew checks

Each operator must confirm their machine pre-start is complete, their licence or verification of competency is current for the task and they are fit for work. Radio channels, the emergency assembly point and the nearest access point for an ambulance must be confirmed and recorded.

5.Sign-on

Every crew member and visitor in the coupe that day must sign on to the form. The supervisor keeps the form on site and enters the summary into the harvest planner at the end of the shift.

6.Complete the form
